And, by leadership, I don't mean his current pandering to political correctness or simple obedience to PMO spin doctors. I mean the sort of honest broker approach we saw from Preston Manning about the issue in 1997 when Kyoto was being formulated. Manning said that the science of climate change is still in its infancy and that we do not know that human emissions of this otherwise beneficial gas is significantly contributing to climate change. And Manning was completely correct and the issue has not progressed significantly beyond that state today.

Jim knows this is true and so, even if it annoys David Suzuki and others who will never vote Conservative anyways, he needs to show enough strength of character to say what is real and good for Canada and the environment in the issue. A good place to start is so-called 'carbon' (really carbon dioxide - there is a big difference) capture and sequestration, which is a massive waste of scare resources to accomplish literally nothing at all.

Is Jim up for saying what is real on this issue and using his environmental portfolio for doing the most important thing possible for the environment right now (namely helping end our misplaced concerns about CO2 emissions)? If not, then I can't see how he can even consider graduating to a level where even more courage will be needed.

Tom Harris
ED - ICSC
www.climatescienceinternational.orgAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5950959482655137886.post-86746836874001765972009-05-21T11:33:20.234-07:002009-05-21T11:33:20.234-07:00MAY 2009

They are both vile little instigators of Parliamentary Anarchy. The rest of these so called leaders are just as bad ... so replacing one dufus leader for another is not a solution that will last long. The misinformation coming out of these political leaders and parties makes Canada a nation of liars, and the rest of the world has noticed. You have a group of Parliamentary self serving losers (all parties) running the show and replacing individuals is not the answer. The entire system has been corrupted with lobbyists, special interest groups, self governing and self regulating professions (lawyers and financial markets), flaky MP's, and the un-elected bureaucrats who make decisions for the benefit of the old boys network. Justice in Canada (courts) is reserved for those who can buy decisions. It is the network of collusion that is Canada's problem and none of these members of Parliament will tell you it exists, let alone do anything about it. Replacing Jim Prentice with Steven Harper may make it worse than it already is.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5950959482655137886.post-6961448895539594092008-12-06T21:07:00.000-08:002008-12-06T21:07:00.000-08:00I've been Conservative for awhile now but will not...I've been Conservative for awhile now but will not be voting for them if Harper is their leader in the next election.
