Welcome to CONSERVATIVES for PRENTICE!

Why are we promoting Jim Prentice for Conservative Leader while Stephen Harper is still PM? We don't mean to be disloyal to the present leader or government -- but we believe the next leader, whenever he may be needed, should be Jim Prentice.

You people, whoever you are and whether you are one person or multiple, are pathetic. There is no 100% certainty that the Coalition will happen, in fact there are a lot of obstacles including the fact the GG will probably say NO since the only precedent is the King-Bing crisis, where the prime minister got the final word. Although he was a Liberal so who knows LOL

But if you are going to spew this crap you should at lest be willing to put your names to it

Anonymous said...

I agree with anonymous above, without giving your names to this you have no credibility and simply serve to damage the credibility of the Tories.

Anonymous said...

I think Jim would make a great leader and it is never too early to start looking to the future. Stephen is hitting his ceiling with the voters and I think Jim Prentice as leader could help the tories continue growing in numbers.

Anonymous said...

I love Jim. I still support our leader, but if we get voted down, Jim is the next generation of CPC leadership!

anyone with as much lust for power as this guy does not deserve to be PM

This is ridiculous.

I know Jim Prentice would be VERY offended if he saw this.
He has been an ARDENT supporter of our leader, and continues to be

As Jim Prentice’s riding president and campaign manager in the recent federal election, I feel it necessary to make several points to those who are posting on this blog as well as the architects of this site. First and foremost is the fact that this site is neither endorsed, supported nor in any way encouraged by Mr. Prentice, nor any of the people who work or volunteer for him – in fact quite the opposite is true.

It is unfortunate that at a time when conservatives need to be working together to prevent what is a desperate power play by the opposition to seize control of our democratically elected government, that a site like this would be created. All conservatives and any Canadians who believe in democracy and the importance of stability during this time of economic crisis should follow Mr. Prentice’s unwavering support of and loyalty to our leader and our Prime Minister, Stephen Harper.

A dollar short and a day late.
Stephen Harper is a megalomanic advocate for failed Friedman economic sophistry.
Every Canadian wants to see stable government in Canada. No one wants an election. Stay the course. You will be pressured and harrassed. The truth is, however, that the regional reform leader is both arrogant and useless.
There will never be a Harper majority. He is out of date and badly motivated. We need a more reasonable and sensible leader now.
Time to go back to PROGRESSIVE Conservatism.

In a parliamentary democracy, it is a party, or a coalition of parties which represent the majority of the democratically elected MPs. This does not mean it is always the party having won the most seats. The three opposition parties represent more than 50% of the seats; no party alone can have the majority of the seats.
For the opposition parties to form a coalition, it would in fact be democratic. And the Constitution will allow it. In the end, it is the Governal General with the final say (to allow an election or to allow a coalition).

Anonymous said...

Keep up the good work, the Conservatives definately need a new leader.

Anonymous said...

You people suck! This has to be a site cooked up by the NDP/BLOC/LIB party! Harper is the MAN! He is not going anywhere. Respect the party with the most seats in the House! Respect the West or the West is going want out!

Anonymous said...

RationalTory: You still think the Conservatives have credibility? The Conservatives have lost credibility with a great many Canadians, and the only feasible way for them to regain that credibility is to elect a leader who has some higher purpose in mind that destroying his opponents and the country. Governing Canada is more than simply winning elections: it's having a clear vision for this country and articulating it to Canadians. And no, destroying this "Northern European welfare state" is not an acceptable vision.

I'm a Liberal, and I would be afraid of Jim Prentice as leader of the Conservative party. If the Liberals are going to turn this coalition into a real minority government after the next election, they need a Tory leader who is still distrusted by most Canadians. They need Stephen Harper. I applaud all of the Conservatives who are making comments against this blog. Keep Steve as leader!

Great! Maybe under Prentice you Cons can get back to being true blue conservatives instead of neo-facists.

THis must have been created by a non-conservative. After attending our convention last month, I can confirm that our party is the most united. We stand firmly behind our leader.
If the person who created this is a Tory, I encourage you to remove this site. Although Jim is a great guy, you are damaging his credibility and making him look bad.
United we stand!!

PM Harper version of conservatism is very narrow and in its core is Reformed. I do believe the Conservatives have to continue united, but I fear that Harper is not the person to lead the party under the present circumstances.
He continues to gravitate to the Reformed ideologies rather than staying near the centre.

Harper need to be replaced and immediately before we lose the momentum to govern Canada. The Liberals, NDP and now the Bloc will continue to rip apart at the party's image with the help of Harper from inside.

How about Canadians for Prentice.

I might actually consider voting for them is they got rid of Harper and his partisan bickering.

He is the most partisan PM of all time.

Whomever created this website should be applauded. The main reason the Conservatives did not recieve a majority is due to Stephen Harper's take all approach. We need an inspiring, progressive leader, and if the Conservatives want to win the hearts and minds of the Canadian people (Majority), they must have a man such as Prentice at the helm. We need middle of the road, compromise and less division in this uncertain time. Bring on Jim Prentice!

Anonymous said...

This is not what we need right now! We need to stand behind Harper and remain united as Conservatives. I'm sure Prentice would be a great leader some day, but let's remember we have a great leader today too. Stand together and help fight the undemocratic backroom dealings of the left!

David Higginbottom is right about stability in these times (see his comment below).
If the Harper Conservatives can't stabilize the government - and it is apparent right now they cannot - then parliament had better pick a new government.

Anonymous said...

This site is such an obvious opposition ploy that it will surely backfire. It only proves how slimy and dishonest these opposition activists are, and makes the Conservatives look good by comparison. Incidentally, Jim Prentice is a truly good and wise man, which is exactly why no real supporter of his would be stupid enough to create a website like this.

Anonymous said...

How many times do I have to read "our leader"? Why not "Dear Leader"? Oh, it's already taken.

Kudos to those responsible for this blog. If it generates anything close to intelligent dialogue it will all be good.

Anonymous said...

Good luck!!!

None of this needed to happen.

Jim Prentice is a good man, as are many of the Conservative caucus. The only problem that exists is that if Stephen Harper walked on water people would say it's because he can't swim. The media from years ago (Chretien era) painted Mr. Harper as a problem. This time more than ever is a time for Conservatives to pull together and help to educate the media and Canadians. A change in government now would serve no useful purpose. Yes, Stephen Harper should seek Opposition ideas, but you know clearly the gentle, civil, Opposition were bound and determined to defeat Stephen Harper and the Conservatives in a bare-knuckled street fight. They were only waiting for the opportunity. The epitome of opportunism. Nothing to be admired in this Coalition of Revenge.

Anonymous said...

I notice the time clock for this site is the western time zone. It really doesn't seem to be an honest site set up by any Conservative of any stripe.

Although I didn't know of Mr. Prentice before this news I like that he has smiley eyes, unlike dead-eyed Mr. Harper! Is Mr.Prentice a shark in smiley-eyed costume, dunno, but will see.

Thomas D'Arcy McGee said...

There would be no need for Jim to have to step forward and offer his services as leader if Stephen Harper hadn't utilized a "my way or the highway" approach to the party and the government.
As has insisted on treating the rest of the party, and the caucus in particular, like serfs, he must expect that loyalty to himself would be a mile wide and an inch deep.
"Pride goeth before the fall."

It's time for Jim Prentice!

Anonymous said...

I have had the pleasure to have worked with Mr. Prentice in the past and agree with many that he would never support this as he would be loyal to his leader.
But people come on Mr. Harper fought an election against what was considered a corupt Liberal government and could only manage a minority, then he ran against the worst Liberal leader in maybe there history and could still only manage a minority? he may be a good guy but he is no leader for our country maybe just maybe a change is in order?

Anonymous said...

Interesting to see that there is dissent within the Conservative Party...despite the public "united front", this website (along with the one for John Baird) seems to show the cracks that are forming beneath the surface...

Anonymous said...

There are so many former Progressive Conservatives waiting and anxious to vote for the real thing again (like Joe Clarke or John Diefenbaker. But where are they all hiding?
No one should forget that the present Conservative Party is made up of a coalition too - mostly Reformers and some rabid right-wingers from Ontario like
Mr. Flaherty himself!
So no one has the right to criticize a move by the other side to represent the real majority of Canadians.

Anonymous said...

Right thinking Conservatives need to look at alternatives. We're being led towards disaster by the current leader.

Let's start thinking about alternatives.

Anonymous said...

Well interesting site. Okay I only read the comments, and the fact the creators of this site do not wish to be known. I for one like Harper and do not believe his eyes are ‘dead’ lol If Harper was not one of the leaders I probably wouldn’t have started an interest in politics. (Young female, choke on that lol) If the conservatives did change leaders, I’m sure they would find themselves’ in opposition. Harper is the main reason they have done well. Harpers first shot with this team got them 99 seats. Next election, it will be Harper who gets a majority.

Anonymous said...

Well I vote for this site lol its better the other

Anonymous said...

I am not a Conservative voter but I do respect what past Conservative Prime Ministers and Premiers have done for Canada. Unfortunately, the current Prime Minister is a threat to our democracy. He has to go. Please Conservatives throw him out. You have a potential leader in Jim Prentice. He's a fiscal conservative with the ability to reach out to other parties. Canada doesn't need narrow partisanship at this time. If your party doesn't stand up to Harper, you're going to lose power. It's that plain and simple. Harper brought about this crisis and he's going to have to deal with its aftermath. Please do the right thing and think about Canada. We all love Canada. Harper only loves himself. A concerned voter and fellow Canada in Saskatchewan.

Anonymous said...

I'd vote for dis Prentice guy.

Anonymous said...

To the anonymous post above who said Harper would get a majority in the next election. I ask, how you can expect him to win a majority in the next election when he was unable to get a majority in this election against the gift that was Dion. I could not see Harper faring better against Ignatieff.

Anonymous said...

It is a good plan to have someone groomed for the Leaders job.

What is wrong with you people? Steve got 36 % of the popular vote, the coalition only got 54 %. So why shouldn't Steven be PM? He tried to postpone help to "average" Canadians only when unemployment is on the rise, mortgage foreclosures are rising, and a deficit budget is all but guaranteed. Please do not worry. Steve says "It is only a technical recession". So what is your problem - it is not even real it is just "technical". I for one will stand shoulder to shoulder with Steve - shoulder to shoulder with John Baird is just plan risky - where does he stand ? where are his hands? Nope John Baird is not for me. Steve is the man. After all Satan is not available,

Anonymous said...

Steven will never be elected PM with a majority. His latest policies included with the economic update has simply verified what a lot of people suspected. It is time for a new leader. I support Jim Prentice.

Prime Minister Harper must bear full responsibility for this national mess. He was ill-advised by the inner sanctum of his choosing and decided to proceed to corner his foes. He opted to play hardball and try to corner a bunch of rats. He was naïve to believe there would be no consequences since Duceppe, Layton and particularly Dion had nothing to lose.

Mr. Harper, you’ve made your bed, now you must lie in it. Too bad for all of us having to share and endure this "Nightmare Before Christmas", let alone the incredible opportunity you’ve squandered. The rats are in a frenzy and biting, a few well chosen dispensables such as a divorce lawyer turned bumbling Finance Minister may be enough blood for their self-interest needs. Will you be governed by your so-called principles you ditched so quickly since elected in 2006 or by common sense?

My family and millions of hard-working Canadians needs you to act on the latter or to get out of the way.

Stephen Harper .... Either lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Even the folks who drank your Kool Aid can see through your thinly veiled disguise and are now seeking a refuge of sanity in people such as Jim Prentice.

You portrayed yourself is Mr. Rogers, complete with sweater vest,
during the campaign. You met with all of the provincial premiers to discuss their concerns regarding the economy and vowed how you were going to work in a non partisan fashion to give Canadians who have lost or fear losing their jobs hope. Then you pull this ...It's all about me and my power stunt and to heck with the hard working Canadians.

You need to be removed fron any leadership position immediately and a kinder gentler replacement found.

I bet Prentice could get the support of The House

Anonymous said...

The last time I voted Conservative it was for BM. I think Prentice is exactly what this party needs. Harper sucks as PM. it doesn't matter if the coalition happens or not. A real leader is needed.

Anonymous said...

Harper (under really poor advice from Guy Giorno perhaps) just put all his chips on black, and its come up red.

Harper's the only one responsible for the mess we're in now.

There are two solutions, lose the vote in the house and we'll have the coalition to mess up Canada or take the cowardly way out and suspend parliament today to avoid the vote.

If he takes the easy way, he must step aside and allow someone else to lead the CPC through this crisis.

Anonymous said...

Yes, our beloved Caesar has dodged yet another one. Be assure that there will be some “house cleaning” taking place but I wouldn’t spend much time dissecting the situation as most already know those responsible for the hemlock in the statement. Don’t expect any “mea culpas”. Much like my son's, his personal dictionary doesn't contain the words.

Some of you are thinking ahead with your support for Jim and quite honestly, so are many more on Albert. He’s a good guy but wouldn’t be caught dead supporting anything like this outright. You have to be careful not to get too far ahead of yourselves.

I do however have to admit that this site has provided some amusement. PVL got a chuckle with an echo heard as far away as New Brunswick making a noise that even woke up the Lord himself. The feelers are out.

Patience my friends.

Just remember not too be so obvious. Having this visible on your screens on Albert as well as in the blocks might attract more of the fourth estate than desired. Discretion friends. Discretion.

I was a life long Conservative up until Harper/Flaherty decided to play bait and switch with my investments by reneging on their pledge not to raise taxes on income trust investments. I will be right out front and say I am not a conservative, but Steven Harper has to wear this all by himself. It was short sighted and divisive. By his actions he has abandoned Quebec and has left the Conservative Party unable to gain majority with his leadership. Harper is very damaged and thats a fact.

Real change is needed. Harper is too damaged and Flaherty is just acting as opposition leader in Ontario, waiting for Mr. Tory to finally drown, while trying to make sure McGinty suffers (and therefore many Ontarions also suffer). Time for a change.

Mr. Prentice may not be looking for the chance but leaders seize the moment.

Jim Prentice is a lawyer with a past, and he refuses to answer valid questions concerning some of his past legal transactions which has nothing to do with confidentiality and everything to do with protecting himself.

Anonymous said...

I've been Conservative for awhile now but will not be voting for them if Harper is their leader in the next election. We need someone who works WITH the other parties and not just some bully. Harper will never grow up. Get Prentice or someone else in.

Anonymous said...

There is very little difference between Jim Prentice and Steven Harper. They are both vile little instigators of Parliamentary Anarchy. The rest of these so called leaders are just as bad ... so replacing one dufus leader for another is not a solution that will last long. The misinformation coming out of these political leaders and parties makes Canada a nation of liars, and the rest of the world has noticed. You have a group of Parliamentary self serving losers (all parties) running the show and replacing individuals is not the answer. The entire system has been corrupted with lobbyists, special interest groups, self governing and self regulating professions (lawyers and financial markets), flaky MP's, and the un-elected bureaucrats who make decisions for the benefit of the old boys network. Justice in Canada (courts) is reserved for those who can buy decisions. It is the network of collusion that is Canada's problem and none of these members of Parliament will tell you it exists, let alone do anything about it. Replacing Jim Prentice with Steven Harper may make it worse than it already is.

Perhaps after Stephen Harper's Tories go down to defeat, he can return to his promised land and lead all the disgruntled westerners in their war for independence. Then we can have a proper civil war and have our own "final solution" to the unity problem. Just kidding. :-)

Unless, of course, you rednecks aren't.

I am a long time Conservative. Even though Jim is a good guy and will make a great leader someday (if he chooses), I believe this site is composed by members of the LPOC. There is no way Mr. Harper is going anywhere and he has complete support of his party and members. Mr. Harper has worked hard and brought us a long way in a very short period of time. If by the slim chance that this is from someone within the CPC...go to hell and turn in your cards. I doubt even Jim would approve of what you are doing.

Harper has to go.

For Jim Prentice to be a serious contender for leader of the party, he needs to show significant true leadership on the biggest issue in his current portfolio, climate change. And, by leadership, I don't mean his current pandering to political correctness or simple obedience to PMO spin doctors. I mean the sort of honest broker approach we saw from Preston Manning about the issue in 1997 when Kyoto was being formulated. Manning said that the science of climate change is still in its infancy and that we do not know that human emissions of this otherwise beneficial gas is significantly contributing to climate change. And Manning was completely correct and the issue has not progressed significantly beyond that state today.

Jim knows this is true and so, even if it annoys David Suzuki and others who will never vote Conservative anyways, he needs to show enough strength of character to say what is real and good for Canada and the environment in the issue. A good place to start is so-called 'carbon' (really carbon dioxide - there is a big difference) capture and sequestration, which is a massive waste of scare resources to accomplish literally nothing at all.

Is Jim up for saying what is real on this issue and using his environmental portfolio for doing the most important thing possible for the environment right now (namely helping end our misplaced concerns about CO2 emissions)? If not, then I can't see how he can even consider graduating to a level where even more courage will be needed.
